- Boston gets outdueled by the first place Capitals but manages to take away a point moving them into 7th place in the East.
- The Bruins and Caps both got off 30 shots tonight on net, while Washington out-hit Boston 32-to-21. Both teams had numerous scoring chances but I personally will have to give the edge to the B's in that catergory.
- Tuukka Rask made 27 saves getting out-dueled by the Caps Jose Theodore. Rask was named the NHL's 3rd "Star of the Week" yesterday thanks to his 2-1-0 record which consisted of a shutout, .977 save-percentage and 0.55 goals-against.
- The Bruins extended their powerplay streak to 13 scoreless opportunities while having the man advantage. This was one of the worst powerplay displays I have seen in a while from the Bruins. (Bruins PP Strategy: Pass to from D to D... Pass along boards to top of the circle.... Pass to corner man.... Pass back to the top of the circle... Back to the defenseman and repeat the cycle. Throw in a blocked shot here or there to jazz things up a bit at times.)
- Dennis Wideman scored his 5th goal of the season with less than two seconds remaining in the first period to tie the game at one a piece. (Spoiler Alert: Wideman will screw up BIG TIME later in the game.)
- Patrice Bergeron gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead in the second period and recorded his 19th goal of the season. Bergy currently leads the team with 52 points (19-33-52).
- My opinion on the Caps first goal, first off how could the ref make the goal call on the ice from basically the blueline. There was no call then the flashing arena lights and siren went off and he skated to the net and finally made a hometown call... bullshit. To me the replay clearly showed that the entire puck never crossed the goal line. While on the subject of a blown call... how the fuck didn't Semin get even a two minute penalty for his high-stick on Zdeno Chara in the second period? HOW?
- As hinted to earlier, Dennis Wideman was once again the goat after taking a high-sticking call in the early ticks of overtime. This resulted in a quick Washington goal that no Bruin on the ice stood a chance at preventing. I swear I even saw coach Claude Julien ripping into Wides' post-game from the bench.
- In Mark Stuart's absence Matt Hunwick filled in logging a team high 29:00-minutes.
- Don't forget to check out Tuukka Time's and Andrew Savage's post-game video recaps.
- The Bruins return to action on Thursday at the TD Garden to take on the Buffalo Sabres. Only three games remain until the regular season closes out.
