GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Bruins struggle to hold a lead but show some signs of heart in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.
- Tim Thomas made 40-saves last night but ended up going 0-for-2 in the shootout for quick defeat. Warning: mini-rant coming! I understand I have always been a Thomas backer but even recently I have admitted that Tuukka has been our best goalie and should be the "starter". With that said Thomas played a great game last night making saves when they needed to be made. The four-goals allowed are in a way his fault since its his job to stop them but I would love to see the save success rate of goalies in the league when trying to stop point blank shots of opposing players left alone in front of the net (goals one through three) and pucks that bounce off of bodies with traffic in front of the net (goal four). I understand Thomas flopped in the shootout but the shootout in no way reflects a goalies skill since the odd's are stacked against them there. Anyone critic who judges a goalies performance by what they do in the shootout is flat out retarded.
- David Krejci scored twice by attacking the net both times, once to put the Bruins on the board and again to tie the game at four a piece.
- Dan Paille gave the Bruins a late 2nd-period momentum boost via a nifty pass from Mark Recchi to stop the Blackhawks 3-goal serge.
- ("Johnny Boychuck with a Johnny Rocket" -Jack Edwards) Boychuck scores his 2nd NHL goal tying the game at 3-3 in the 3rd-period.
- Paille, Bergeron, Krejci & Recchi each recorded 2-points on the night.
- Boston was out-shot 44-to-29 by the Blackhawks.
- Boston tries to snap their current three-game skid in Toronto tonight.
