(Doesn't look like this guy will need a new jersey any time soon.)
Game Thirty-One
Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
December 18th, 2008 @ 7:00PM
GAME QUICK HITS:
- The Bruins are currently 2-1-0 against the Leafs this season and have looked good in all three match ups. Well they were good for one period in the first game that they loss but still. This is the last time the Leafs will travel to Boston though in this season series (last two meetings are in Toronto). Toronto has been hot lately winning their last three games and killing off 24 of 26 penalty kills in their last eight.
- This divisional match up has been filled with Bruins highlights though this season including Matt Hunwick's first NHL career goal, Blake Wheeler's first career hat (bra) trick, and the unforgettable check from Milan Lucic that sent Mike Van Ryn through a pane of glass.
- Boston's injured players for the game will be Petteri Nokelainen (upper body), Andrew Ference (leg), and Aaron Ward (ankle). While it looks like Marco Sturm (concussion symptoms) looks to be a game time decision.
- Maple Leaf's injured players include Jamal Mayers (hand), Jonas Frogren (arm), and Luke Schenn (lower body). While the Leafs have their own game time decision player Niklas Hagman (concussion).
- Tim Thomas will get the start in net for the B's. Thomas has played in every game versus Toronto this season posting a 2-1 record while stopping 95 of 103 shots he's faced.
- On the other end of the ice looks to be Vesa Toskala. Toskala has also played in every meeting this year and has the opposite record of 1-2 while on stopping 77 of the 88 shots on net.
- Can Phil Kessel continue the streak? Kessel looks to continue a 15-game point streak tonight and add on to his 12 goals and 10 assists that he has compiled in that time.
- Talking about streaks, the Bruins look to continue their home dominance and add on to their 11-game home win streak. The last time the Bruins lost at home was on October 23rd against the Maple Leafs.
- Tonight joining Jack Edwards and Andy Brickly in the booth will be two guest announcers, Erin Miller (20) and Caroline Fries (17). Both guests are patients of the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Edwards wanted to do something for the kids and it looks like that will be handing the mic over to them during certain replays and segments tonight. Good for you Jack...
- The Bruins will be once again hosting their "Toys For Tots" drive during tonight's game, collecting toys for needy children before the game. Any fan who brings a toy will also receive a free youth voucher to the Bruins/Anaheim match up later this year. Can't go wrong here, plus it's the holiday season and these kid's need your help.
