Voting for the 2008-2009 All-Star Game has officially begun today. I want everyone to head over to the official fan balloting section (http://fanballoting.nhl.com/) and write-in Tim Thomas as their Eastern Conference goaltender selection. The All-Star Game is an event for the fans and when a player that rightfully deserves to be named on the ballot is snubbed by the league, then the fans need to take matters into their own hands.
In a first for all major professional sports leagues, the NHL will provide real-time All-Star fan balloting results online. From November 12th through January 2nd, NHL fans will be able to vote as often as they like to select the starting lineups for the 2008-2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal. During the voting period, real-time results will be available exclusively at Vote.NHL.com/results. This marks the third consecutive year the All-Star Game balloting process is entirely digital and in control by the fans.
Tonight will mark the first day we strike. In collaboration with the two "Vote For Thomas" campaign groups on Facebook, we are starting the first of many "Crash The Net" voting sessions. Between 7PM-8PM tonight, right before the B's play the Blackhawks, we want all Bruins fans to head over to the official voting website and cast their vote for Thomas over and over again. We want to show we mean business on day one and that Boston still is a hockey town.
Thanks to Justin Ghosn (creator of the "Crash The Net" idea), Andrew Savage and Cornelius Hardenbergh for their continuing help with getting Thomas to the All-Star Game.
