After 1,566 professional games (9th all-time), Bruins winger and future NHL Hall of Famer Mark Recchi has finally decided to hang up his skates. According to close sources from the Bruins team, Recchi plans on holding a press conference before tonight's game against the Florida Panthers at the TD Garden to announce his official retirement. During his tenure of 21 seasons with seven different teams in the league, the "Recking Ball" has amassed 562 goals (22nd all-time) and 921 assists (17th all-time) to finish his career with 1,483 points. Celebrating his 42nd birthday back on February 1st, the "old guy" could still get it done too recording 17 goals and 24 assists this season with the Bruins making today's announcement all that more of a shock. This however does bring up the question, who will replace T-Recc's in the lineup? Could the Bruins already be looking at recalling recent signee Joe Colborne? I will touch more on these questions after my "This Is Your Life" style walk through of Recchi's career...
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY FROM HUB HOCKEY!
