Defenseman Mark Stuart required surgery on an infected finger and will be out of the lineup for the remaining two weeks of the season. Originally diagnosed with a cellulitis infection on his hand, Stuart sat out of the Bruins/Leafs game but was expected to return Monday night. However things looked to have changed with the status of the infection and Stu underwent surgery rather then the normal oral or intravenous treatments on Sunday. More details on the condition of Stuart and why the change in treatment when they become avaliable.
Andrew Bodnarchuk has been recalled from Providence on an emergency basis to help fill the void that Stuart's absence will create. Bodnarchuk was originally recalled for the beford Saturday nights game against the Leafs and logged 7:50-minutes of ice time. Even though only an emergency call-up, Bodnarchuk could remain with Boston for Monday nights game as well considering the team may be without number two defenseman Dennis Seidenberg now either.
