The NHL recently began airing their new ad campaign for the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs revolving around the slogan "History Will Be Made". The commercials showcase reverse slow-motion highlights of a classic Stanley Cup moments, followed by the question of what would have happened if the event never took place. Below is my favorite one so far asking the question "What if Bobby (Orr) didn't fly?".
Pretty good huh...? I thought so too, until I searched for more on YouTube. It looks like fans have taken it upon themselves to create videos for some of the plays that the NHL has "missed" and inevitably topped the actual commercials. These clips range from a jab on Flames keeper Vesa Toskala to a Mighty Ducks tribute to the Bruins very own Dennis Wideman (as seen below).
So what does this have to do with all of you?
Well... I am calling all of you out. I am challenging you guys to show off your skills and create your very own "History Will Be Made" parody video revolving around the Bruins 2009-2010 season. Just follow the simple five step video make-up, as explained originally broken down by Greg Wyshynski earlier today, and then send your finished product to me at hubhockey@gmail.com.
Step One: Take a slow-motion highlight from the Bruins 2009-2010 season
Step Two: Reverse the clip
Step Three: Add in the classy piano solo
Step Four: Toss in your punchline question
Step Five: Finish with this Hub Hockey logo
The deadline to create and submit these videos will be April 11th, the same day of the Bruins final regular season game. The videos will then be posted here at The Hub, with the winner decided by the readers majority vote. The winning video editor will receive a Hub prize pack including stickers, shirts and an autographed photo of a Bruins player. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with...
