As previously rumored here at The Hub yesterday, 2008 first-round draft pick Joe Colborne has officially signed with the Bruins following the Universtiy of Denver's early exit from this years Frozen Four. Along with the new "Jumbo Joe", the B's also signed three other prospects today in 2009 first-rounder Jordan Caron, goaltender Michael Hutchinson and defenseman Steven Kampfer to entry-level contracts. Colborne, Kampfer and recently recalled forward Maxime Sauve, currently playing in the QMJHL, will join the Providence Bruins this week and look to be in the lineup as soon as Friday night for the Baby-B's game against the Worcester Sharks.
Colborne (6'5" 205 lbs.), as mentioned above, was drafted by the Bruins in 2008 as the 16th overall pick that year. He has spent the last two years with the University of Denver where he amassed 32 goals and 40 assists in 79 games.
Caron (6'2" 202 lbs.) was drafted by the Bruins in the first-round of the 2009 entry draft as the 25th pick overall. He has spent the last four years playing in the QMJHL totaling 100 goals and 103 assists in 204 games. Currently he leads the league in playoff scoring with 6 tallies.
Kampfer (5'11" 197 lbs.) was originally drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth-round of the 2007 draft. He was acquired by the Bruins back on March 2nd for a conditional draft pick. He has spent the last four years playing for the University of Michigan where totaled 7 goals and 54 asissts in 147 games for the Wolverines.
Hutchinson (6'3" 185 lbs.) was drafted by Boston during the 2008 draft in the third-round. Mike has spent the last four years playing in the OHL for the Barrie Colts and most recnetly the London Knights where he posted a 32-12-2 record this season with a .913 save-percentage and 2.86 GAA. Currently he has led his team into the second round of the 2010 playoffs going 4-1-0 in the first-round posting a 2.84 GAA.
