Mark Stuart nailed the Kings Anze Kopitar during the second-period of yesterdays 3-2 shootout loss. The hit was clearly clean but the aftermath resulted in 24-penalty minutes [Stuart: 5 (Fighting Major) & Wayne Simmonds: 5 (Fighting Major), 2 (Instigating), 2 (Unsportsmanlike) and 10 (Game Misconduct)]. Some may question why does there always have to be a fight following a huge hit like this even when it is clean. But it all comes down to defending your star players, same would happen if roles were reversed and that was Marc Savard. But in the end it was great to see the Bruins intensity level peak following this crowd pleaser.
Finally, just wanted to add that Brick said it best when calling out defenseman Peter Harrold of the Kings for basically setting up this "green light hit" with that "sucker" pass.
