So thanks to a good friend of the site and one of Boston's most talked about blogger's Cameron Frye, I am able to bring up some trade rumor potential news while giving you guys the chance to win a free shirt.
Earlier today Kevin Paul Dupont from the Boston Globe gave a quick injury update on Shane Hnidy, Patrice Bergeron, and the latest Bruin to be hit by the injury bug Manny Fernandez. But can Manny's absence from the team be grouped with the rest of the Black & Gold players suffering from injuries or is it something else?
"As the coach's media session broke up, and reporters lightheartedly talked about clarifying the ''minor thing'', Julien said, ''I'm trying to stickhandle here, guys, and I am not good at it.''
Who knows what any of it means? Julien said that Fernandez cannot yet be considered a scratch for tomorrow's game at the Garden vs. the Habs.
Kevin Regan filled Fernandez' locker space in the dressing room. Interestingly, Fernandez' nameplate had been removed, while other injured players--Andrew Ference, Milan Lucic and Marco Sturm (knee surgery tomorrow)--all had their nameplates in place. Now just like every other Bruins fan out there, my mind automatically ran wild with possible trade deals and long-term injury concern. But right off the bat I ruled the possibility of a long-term injury out on the simple fact that I don't believe the Bruins would keep something like that under wraps so long for a player that has a history with injuries. So then I moved on to an idea that I bet everyone else is already thinking, a trade.
Almost less then a week ago different media outlets were reporting that the Bruins are content with keeping both goaltenders in their current unstoppable duo of Thomas and Fernandez until the end of the year. And now we are hit with this. I mean the Bruins will need to let go either Thomas or Fernandez at the end of the year anyways so why not make a move now while you can at least get something in return, right? And with the loss of Marco Sturm for the season and Patrice Bergeron for at least a month or two the Bruins might be seeking outside help with the newly discovered cap space.
KPD even wrote a piece on possible "plan B" moves for the Bruins to consider earlier this week, mentioning players such as Erik Cole, Jason Williams, Steve Reinprecht, Nik Antropov, and Boston native Keith Tkachuk. In my opinion these are all great idea's but would they be worth breaking up our current goalie tandem? On top of this The Fourth Period is reporting that the Bruins are actively looking for a top-four defenseman with Fernandez as trade bait.
